Rudder Restoration

This is the “after” photo of a rudder, ready for painting, recently produced for the restoration of a couta boat.

Grand piano

A commissioned restoration of a century old family treasure. We designed and made the new legs in mahogany. The cabinet in Walnut burl veneer, was revived and finished. New lids, including the keyboard cover, were created from magnificent walnut burl veneer and finished. A new music stand was designed and made from mahogany. Other pieces and decorative features including the foot pedal apparatus, were restored. An immensely satisfying job to see this grand old instrument returned to its former beauty.

Desk

This old Oak desk has sentimental value to our client. With a few repairs it’s looking good again.

Classy Classic

These Chippendale chairs were in dire need of repair. Restoring them to their classic beauty was a very enjoyable task.

Finials

These finials for a local homestead restoration were inaccurately measured and made too short (not by us!). Our job was to lengthen them, achieved by splicing. This technique, with the Merbau timber, should last a few generations.

Grand Table

A mahogany 12 seat extension table, modified and restored.

Revivification

A point of interest with this extension table is that each of its four panels is a single piece of timber. Not really possible these days.

A Retro Reno

This classic design Danish Deluxe coffee table was restored to its former beauty. Timeless elegance.

Seedy

This is a kauri and Baltic pine cabinet I restored.

It started life as commercial storage for a major Victorian seed merchant, endured significant fire damage in the 1930s, and now remains in the family as a domestic unit.

Victoria! Victoria!

We received a damaged mahogany cabinet.

We manufactured new doors, drawers and minor pieces, and returned a restored piece ready for its next 150 years of quiet service.

Blackwood Bookcase / Cabinet

An unusual commission: our client supplied two banks of drawers from an old sewing machine; they became the basis of a blackwood bookcase/cabinet. An effective, imaginative melding of old and new.
